Newark Police Department Crime Blotter Mar 4 - 10, 2024

The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, MARCH 4, 2024: 
8:00 AM Officer S. Torres was conducting proactive patrol and recovered a stolen vehicle on the 6200 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue.
 
10:56 PM Officer Dale investigated a vehicle theft on the 400 block of Newpark Mall Road.
 
TUESDAY, MARCH 5, 2024: 
11:36 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle burglary on the 8200 block of Gateway Boulevard. Entry was from a driver-side window. Loss was reported as contents within a suitcase.
 
2:45 PM Officer Jackman investigated a vehicle burglary on the 37300 block of Cedar Boulevard. Entry was gained by cutting the lock. No loss was reported.
 
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6, 2024: 
11:15 AM Officer Lara was on routine patrol and performed a pedestrian stop on the 35100 block of Newark Boulevard. A 29-year-old male from Newark was arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail for outstanding court warrants and evading a peace officer.
 
1:48 PM Officer Kim investigated a vehicle burglary on the 6200 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking into a passenger window. No known loss was reported.
 
7:01 PM Officer Dale responded to a traffic collision at Cherry Street and Central Avenue. A 37-year-old male from Newark was arrested for driving under influence and subsequently booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
7:55 PM CSO Mora and Officer McCuin handled reports of multiple vehicle burglaries near the area of Mowry Avenue and Alpenrose Court. Loss included an office bag, documents and miscellaneous items.
 
8:33 PM Officer Cervantes was dispatched to Thornton Avenue and Mulberry Street for a disturbance. A 34-year-old male from Newark was arrested for corporal injury and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
THURSDAY, MARCH 7, 2024: 
9:50 AM During a traffic stop, Officer Slavazza arrested a 40-year-old female from Martinez and booked him into Santa Rita Jail for an active warrant, narcotics, and providing false information.
 
10:37 AM Officer Orozco responded to an assault and robbery call on the 35200 block of Newark Boulevard. A 25-year-old female from Newark was arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail for robbery.
 
1:41 PM Officer Kim investigated a vehicle burglary in the area of Hafner Way and Ruschin Drive. Entry was gained by defeating the lock. Loss included residential mail.
 
9:45 PM Officer Medina contacted a person asleep in a vehicle on the 300 block of Newpark Mall Road. A 34-year-old unsheltered female from Newark was arrested for an outstanding warrant and released with a citation.
 
FRIDAY, MARCH 8, 2024: 
6:41 AM Officer Jackman handled multiple vehicle burglary investigations occurring in the area of Newpark Mall Road & Balentine Drive, and Mowry Avenue & Alpenrose Court. Entry was gained by breaking the windows. Loss included various electronics, industrial equipment, tools and backpacks.
 
7:35 AM Officer Kim investigated a vehicle theft on the 6100 block of Tourraine Drive.
 
11:36 AM Officer Kim was performing a vehicle check on the 35200 block of Newark Boulevard. A 25-year-old male from San Jose was discovered with outstanding felony warrants and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
 
9:06 PM Officer Stevenson was dispatched to a civil standby request at the 39800 block of Cedar Boulevard. A 38-year-old female from Newark was discovered with multiple warrants for her arrest and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
SATURDAY, MARCH 9, 2024: 
1:27 AM On the 6000 block of Jarvis Avenue, Officer Pacheco recognized a 42-year-old male from Newark on searchable probation and was discovered with narcotics. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail for violating probation terms.
 
12:30 PM Officer Williams investigated a vehicle burglary on the 8000 block of Wells Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the window.
 
7:58 PM While on routine patrol near Central Avenue and Cherry Street, Officer Stevenson performed a pedestrian stop. A 29-year-old transient male from Newark with discovered with narcotics, violating the terms of probation. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
SUNDAY, MARCH 10, 2024: 
9:56 AM Officer Williams investigated a forced entry vehicle burglary on the 35700 block of Bettencourt Street. Reported loss are tools.
 
2:00 PM Officer Jackman was dispatched to the area of Mowry School Road and Cedar Boulevard regarding trespassing. A 28-year-old transient male from Newark was arrested for narcotics, encroachment, misappropriated property and outstanding warrants. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:53 PM Officer McCuin responded to the report of a battery at the 39000 block of Cedar Boulevard. A 37-year old male was arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail for public intoxication.
