Police Seek Help Identifying Package Theft Suspect
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured suspect in connection with a package theft that occurred on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
At approximately 2:04 p.m., a man entered the porch area of a residence in the area of Chelsea Avenue near Mountainview Avenue and removed a delivered package containing an HP Chromebook laptop. The suspect put the package into a reusable grocery bag before walking away, heading southbound on Chelsea toward Mountainview.
Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help to quickly identify this suspect. He is described as a Black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans, and a brown pea coat.
Director Fragé urges anyone with information regarding the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
