Suspect Wanted After He Flees Traffic Stop
On 3-08-24 at 4:36 p.m. a Janesville Police Officer stopped a vehicle at Rockport Rd. and Pearl St. for a traffic violation. The driver was positively identified as Eric Shipp (see attached photo). The officer found that Shipp had a valid warrant out for his arrest, so the officer attempted to take him into custody. Shipp resisted and was able to put the car in drive and drive away. In the process of doing that, the officer was injured. The officer was treated at a nearby hospital and released.
Shipp is currently wanted for a Rock County Sheriff’s Office warrant for non-support and charges stemming from this incident, that include Fleeing, 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and Resisting Causing Injury.
Attempts have been made to locate Shipp have been unsuccessful. If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Eric C. Shipp (31 year old male), they can call the Janesville Police Department at (608)755-3100, the Rock County Communications Center at (608)757-2244, Crime Stoppers at (608)756-3636 or submit a tip on their smartphone using the P3 app. Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward, if the information leads to his arrest.
