LOCATION: Redwood High School
DATE/TIME: March 12th 2024, at around 9 AM
Media Information:
On March 12th at around 8 AM, the school administrators at Redwood High School contacted RCPD. The school had received information that a 17 year old student may be in possession of loaded handgun and was going to bring it on campus. The school administration had scheduled a 9 AM meeting with the same male juvenile and his mother regarding attendance issues. The school requested officers be present at the meeting for security purposes. RCPD Officers responded to the school.
The juvenile was located in the office with his mother. He refused to allow officers to perform a pat search for weapons. The juvenile then attempted to flee the office and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, he told officers he had a firearm on his person. A Glock 27 handgun with a loaded magazine was located in his waistband. An additional loaded magazine was also located on his person. During the altercation, officers received minor injuries.
Officers responded to his residence in East Palo Alto where a search was conducted. Additional ammunition was located. The juvenile was booked into the San Mateo County Youth Services Center on multiple felony charges.
