The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office said that on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, a jury found 33-year-old Joshua Adam Kaiser, a resident of Johnson Valley, guilty on all charges, including: two counts of Willful, Deliberate, Premeditated Attempted Murder pursuant to Penal Code § 664/187(a); two counts of Arson Causing Great Bodily Injury pursuant to Penal Code § 451(a); and one count of Domestic Violence pursuant to Penal Code § 273.5(a). The jury also found true all special allegations, including Personal Infliction of Great Bodily Injury pursuant to Penal Code § 12022.7(a)/(e) and Personal Use of a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon pursuant to Penal Code § 12022(b)(1).
________________________________________________________SUMMARY: 
On Monday, June 19, 2023, at approximately 1:00 a.m., deputies, from the Morongo Basin Station responded to the Hi Desert Medical Center, regarding two burn victims. Deputies spoke with the female victim, who suffered severe burns. The female victim said a man had lit her and the male victim on fire. The male victim suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for more advanced treatment. Both victims have since been released from the hospital and continue to recover.  

Detectives from the Morongo Basin Station and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Arson/Bomb Detail responded to the 52000 block of Cholla Road, in Johnson Valley, where the alleged crime took place. Detectives served a search warrant at the location and located additional evidence. During the investigation, detectives identified Joshua Kaiser as the suspect and sought a warrant for his arrest. On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, deputies contacted Kaiser, on Old Woman Springs Road near Mira Street on a vehicle check. 

Kaiser was taken into custody and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, for PC 664/187 Attempted Murder, with a bail set at $1,000,000.00.
