The Ojai Police Department would like to invite the community to join us for a family friendly dinner night out for pizza. Like “Coffee with the cops”, this event is intended to bring the community and public safety together for friendly conversation over a slice of pizza. Along with Ojai Chief of Police, Trina Newman, this event will feature youth volunteers from the Ojai Explorer program.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Explorer program offers young men and women, between the ages of 14 and 21, insight into the functions of police services. The program’s purpose is to educate, involve and develop service-oriented youth of our community, whether they aspire to have a career in police work or not. The program focuses on basic building blocks and work skills such as communication, decision making, honesty, integrity, teamwork, and commitment. Explorers attend regular meetings with sworn patrol deputies, volunteer for community events and fundraisers, participate in ride-alongs, compete in Explorer competitions and assist with station operations.
