Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of March 4-10, 2024

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There were two robberies during the past week.

On Saturday, 03-09-24, at approximately 3:04 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Loop on the 300 block of Hickey Boulevard on a report of a subject placing beer in his waistband. The employee said that the suspect came inside the store, selected cans of beer, placed at least two cans in his sweatshirt pocket, and tried to only pay for one can of beer placed on the counter. The employee asked the suspect to also pay for the cans of beer in his pocket, which caused the suspect to become upset. The suspect grabbed a ceramic bowl from the countertop and threw it at the employee’s face, striking her in the mouth. The suspect then left without paying for the beers inside his pocket. Shortly after, an officer located the suspect. The suspect, a 31-year-old San Mateo resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery.

On Sunday, 03-10-24, between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., on the 200 block of Southgate Avenue, a suspect hit a victim in the face multiple times and took her purse containing a wallet and cell phone, all valued at approximately $500. The victim described the suspect as a Black male with thick eyebrows, wearing a black tee shirt and black ski mask. This investigation is continuing.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
