USGS reports earthquake 
UPDATE: The USGS reports a 2.2 magnitude earthquake occured 5 km NNE of Whitehouse Station NJ.

At approximately 3:00 PM today, 3/14/2024, our 911 center began receiving multiple calls reporting hearing a loud explosion and shaking. The calls were from multiple areas in the Township and not from any one location.
911 calls were also received in neighboring municipalities including Lebanon Twp, Clinton Twp, Washington Twp, and Chester Twp reporting the same.
Police began checking our respective areas and were unable to locate the source of the sound of an explosion. The US Geological Survey and the FAA were contacted and neither agency reports anything that would cause the sound or shaking
