Two men broke into a vehicle and tried to run from police.  Both men were caught and arrested. 
 
San Mateo, CA – On March 15, 2024, at 12:23 a.m., San Mateo Police Department received a 911 call about two subjects walking down the street and looking into car windows.  As the first officer arrived on the 600 block of Barneson Avenue, the officer saw two adult males inside of a parked car.  When the two males saw the officer, they began to run away.  The officer ran after the two suspects while yelling commands for them to stop.               
 
The suspects continued to run away, then suddenly disappeared from the view of the officer chasing them.  Additional officers arrived on scene and started a systematic search for the two suspects.  Both suspects were located within a few minutes, hiding under bushes in the front yard of a nearby residence. 
 
Officers were able to find the owner of the parked car where the two suspects were originally seen.  The owner of the car did not know the two suspects and confirmed his vehicle was broken into. 
 
The two suspects were identified as Jorge Cobac and Jose Gonzalez-Ramirez.  Cobac and Gonzalez-Ramirez were searched, and stolen property was located in their possession.  Gonzalez-Ramirez was also in possession of a concealed fixed blade knife.  Cobac was arrested for burglary, resisting a police officer, and conspiracy.  Gonzalez-Ramirez was arrested for burglary, resisting a police officer, conspiracy, and carrying a concealed dirk or dagger.  Cobac and Gonzalez-Ramirez were transported and booked into San Mateo County Jail.

460(b) PC- Second degree burglary.  182(a)(1) PC- Conspiracy to commit a crime.  148(a)(1) PC- Obstructing or resisting a police officer.

Jose Gonzalez-Ramirez, 34-year-old Los Banos resident.

460(b) PC- Second degree burglary.  182(a)(1) PC- Conspiracy to commit a crime.  148(a)(1) PC- Obstructing or resisting a police officer.  21310 PC- Carry concealed dirk or dagger.
