Deputies Investigating a Threat to a High School Determine the Incident was a Swatting Call

SUMMARY: On Friday, March 15, 2024, at about 12:04 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Station received a call for service reference a female being held hostage in a restroom at Victor Valley High School.
The reporting party told Sheriff’s Dispatch they were in possession of a bomb constructed using a pressure cooker. In the background, the dispatcher heard a female yell and the sound of a gunshot.
At the time of the call, School Resource Officer Deputy A. Bahena was on campus and immediately responded to the bathrooms. The school was placed on lockdown while Bahena requested additional deputies. Multiple deputies arrived and searched the school. The lockdown was lifted after deputies searched the entire campus, ensuring the safety of students and staff.
This call was determined to be a “swatting” call, and is actively being investigated to identify a suspect.
