Media Release

Hawai‘i Island police charged 23-year-old Tyson Stephens with an array of burglary, theft, and conditions of bail offenses following several burglaries in the Waikoloa area earlier this month.

Stephens was wanted for a burglary and an unauthorized entry to a dwelling investigation, as well as a person of interest in three additional burglaries, two trespassing investigations, and an additional unauthorized entry of dwelling incident.

South Kohala patrol officers located and arrested Stephens in Waikoloa on Wednesday evening, March 13. He was transported to the Kona Police cellblock for processing as Area II Criminal Investigation Section (CIS) detectives continued the investigation.

On Thursday, March 14, after conferring with the County Prosecutor’s Office, detectives with the Area II CIS charged Stephens with the following offenses:

  • Two counts of first-degree burglary
  • Two counts of fourth-degree theft
  • One count of unauthorized entry into a dwelling
  • Three counts of conditions of bail, supervised release
Stephens’ bail was originally set at $50,700 due to bail offenses. After he was charged for the above offenses, his total bail was set at $350,200.

Police would like to thank the community for all of the reported sightings of Stephens.
