Press Release: Fatal Vehicle Collision
FATAL VEHICLE COLLISION
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – On Sunday, March 17th, 2024, at about 6:49 AM, Sunnyvale DPS Patrol and Fire personnel responded to the intersection of Lawrence Expressway and Arques Avenue on a report of a vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle. When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they found the adult motorcyclist suffering from major injuries. Emergency personnel provided life-saving measures to the motorcyclist, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The adult male driver of the vehicle had minor injuries.
Initial information revealed the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Lawrence Expressway and making the left-hand (westbound) turn onto Arques Ave. The driver of the vehicle was traveling southbound on Lawrence Expressway. The vehicle collided with the motorcycle in the intersection.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor, and the cause of the collision is still under investigation. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating.
The collision remains under investigation by the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact MAIT Investigator Larks at (408) 730-7109.
