Today the Burr Ridge Police Department received a report of a phone scam targeting a Burr Ridge Resident. The reporting party said they received a call which appeared on caller ID as coming from the Burr Ridge Police Department. 

The Burr Ridge Police Department does not cold call any residents requesting personal identifying information. 

If you receive a call like this, do not provide any information to the caller and hang-up. If you wish, you may make a report to the police department. Please note the date and time you received the call, and the phone number of the caller. You may report in person at our station or call to have an officer respond.

The Burr Ridge Police Department, as well as employees of the Village Hall, will not call residents and request personal information by telephone or electronic mail. The police department also does not solicit funds in support of unions or police charities. Please do not trust the caller ID information as this information can be easily changed to gain your confidence. If you receive a legitimate call from the Burr Ridge Village staff or Police Department and are suspicious of the legitimacy of the call, please call the department in question to verify.
