The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, MARCH 11, 2024:
1:43 AM Officer McCuin observed a vehicle without headlights and conducted a traffic stop on the 5900 block of Mayhews Landing Road. A 36-year-old male from Newark was arrested in suspicion of driving under influence and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
7:10 AM Officer Frentescu investigated a vehicle theft recovery and burglary on the 37400 block of Cherry Street. Entry was made through the window, additional loss included tools.
7:48 AM Officer Williams investigated a vehicle burglary on the 39300 block of Cedar Boulevard. Loss included work tools and a license plate.
7:53 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle theft occurring on the 39800 block of Cedar Boulevard.
9:56 AM Officer Frentescu investigated a vehicle theft occurring on the 36900 block of Elm Street.
11:26 AM Officer Williams recovered a stolen vehicle occurring on the 7400 block of Morton Avenue.
1:10 PM Officer S. Torres responded to the 36400 block of Spruce Street regarding a court order. A 52-year-old unsheltered male was arrested for trespassing and transported for booking into Santa Rita Jail.
1:34 PM Officer Jackman investigated a vehicle theft occurring on the 37400 block of Willow Street.
7:06 PM Officer McCuin was on routine patrol in the 38600 block of Cedar Boulevard. A 58-year-old male from Stockton was contacted with an arrest warrant, possession of narcotics and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
TUESDAY, MARCH 12, 2024:
6:49 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Enfield and Worthing Drives.
8:56 AM Officer Williams investigated a vehicle burglary that occurred on the 2000 block of Newpark Mall Road. The point of entry was made through the window, loss included various personal items in bags.
10:33 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle theft on the 39800 block of Cedar Boulevard.
2:53 PM Officers located and recovered a stolen vehicle on the 37400 block of Sycamore Street.
7:04 PM Officer Cervantes investigated a vehicle burglary that occurred on the 35700 block of Bettencourt Street. Entry was made via lockpicking, loss included tools.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13, 2024:
9:14 AM Officer Orozco located and recovered a stolen vehicle on the 6900 block of Rich Avenue.
9:38 AM Officer Lara was dispatched to Crocus Court and Mistflower Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary. Loss included tools, electronics, personal identification, and possessions.
1:37 PM Officer Kim investigated a vehicle theft on the 37000 block of Hickory Street.
4:01 PM Officer Torres located and recovered a stolen vehicle near Filbert Street and Wells Avenue.
8:39 PM Officer Dale was dispatched to the 38900 block of Primula Terrace regarding a vehicle burglary. Loss included vehicle registration information.
THURSDAY, MARCH 14, 2024:
6:55 AM Officer Lara responded to 34900 block of Newark Boulevard on a request for a welfare check. A 48-year-old unsheltered male from Hayward was arrested for an active warrant and released on scene with a citation.
8:21 AM Officer Kim responded to the 36900 block of Cherry Street regarding a vehicle burglary. Loss included business packages.
1:26 PM Officers responded to Crocus Court and Mistflower Avenue and recovered a stolen vehicle.
FRIDAY, MARCH 15, 2024:
3:27 AM Officer Stevenson conducted a pedestrian stop on the 2000 block of Newpark Mall Road. A 42-year-old unsheltered male was discovered in possession of narcotics and subsequently arrested. He was released on scene with a citation.
5:12 AM Officer Medina investigated a vehicle theft on the 35700 block of Bettencourt Street.
2:02 PM Officer Slavazza investigated a vehicle theft on the 36700 block of Darvon Street.
4:55 PM Officers conducted a welfare check near Sycamore Street and Rich Avenue. A 37-year-old unsheltered female from Newark was arrested for resisting detention. She was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
SATURDAY, MARCH 16, 2024:
6:35 AM Officer Williams investigated a vehicle theft near Poplar and Maple Streets.
9:56 AM Officers were dispatched to Cherry Street and Thornton Avenue regarding a disturbance. A 43-year-old unsheltered female was arrested for mail theft and resisting arrest. She was transported to Santa Rita Jail.
9:03 PM Officer Stevenson responded to the 36500 block of Cherry Street on a welfare check and located a 21-year-old female from Newark with active warrants. She was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
10:11 PM CSO Vuong recovered a stolen vehicle at the 200 block of Newpark Mall Road.
11:44 PM Officers responded to a trespassing call on the 6000 block of Mowry Avenue. Five individuals were arrested and released on a citation for trespassing, including the below.
- 24-year-old male from Newark
- 27-year-old male from Gilroy
- 21-year-old male from Hayward
- 25-year-old female from Hayward
8:09 AM Officer Jackman investigated a vehicle theft on the 6800 block of Overlake Place.
10:25 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle burglary in 11-the 6000 block of Mistflower Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the window. The current loss is unknown.
2:26 PM Officer S. Torres responded to the 36600 block of Newark Boulevard regarding a disturbance. A 65-year-old unsheltered male from Newark was contacted and discovered with narcotics and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
4:12 PM Officer Townsend was dispatched to a suspicious person at the 5500 block of Musick Avenue. Upon contacting a 52-year-old male from Newark, he was discovered with narcotics on his person and subsequently arrested. The individual was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
9:40 PM Officer Stevenson was dispatched to a disturbance on the 39200 block of Cedar Boulevard. A 42-year-old unsheltered male from Newark was arrested for narcotics and transported for booking into Santa Rita Jail.
11:58 PM Officer C. Torres was on routine patrol and observed a vehicle driving against the direction of traffic and performed a traffic stop. A 33-year-old male from Newark was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
