The Yorktown Police Department and the Westchester County Police Department staged resources on Curry St. sidestreets this morning in response to alleged unlicensed workers returning to perform very substandard work (aka "gypsy crew") at two neighborhood residences.  When the workers arrived, arrests were made.  There was no danger to the public at any time.  All solicitors in Yorktown must have a town permit to solicit.  If you receive a phone call from any solicitor, hang up.  Better yet, let all phone calls go to voicemail and return any calls at your discretion.  Scams come in very different ways.  This type of scam is as old school as it gets.  We thank the Westchester County Department of Consumer Protection for their assistance in this matter.  Please always attempt to use licensed and reputable contractors for any work at your residence.  YPD can always be contacted 24/7/365 at 914-962-4141.
