El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from March 3rd– March 9th.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from March 3rd to March 9th.
 
March 3rd

Petty Theft – 10944 San Pablo Ave:
At 11:47 AM, an officer took a report of the theft of a license plate sometime overnight.

Vandalism – 900 block of Leneve Pl.
At 12:29 PM, an officer reports a suspect shattered the windows of the victim’s vehicle on 03/02/2024 at 11:00 PM.

Shoplifting - 6050 El Cerrito Plaza (Barnes and Noble):
At 7:29 PM, an officer reports the suspect took merchandise and fled the store prior to police arrival.

Warrant Arrest / Possession of a Controlled Substance - Hill St / Liberty St.
At 1:20 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and discovered the subject had an active warrant. The officer conducted a search incident to arrest and located methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

March 4th

Stolen Vehicle - Key Blvd / Cutting Blvd.
At 7:41 PM, an officer reports the suspect stole the victim’s vehicle. Officers later located the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered from the scene and the owner was contacted. 

Battery / Criminal Threats- 600 Block of Lexington Ave.
At 11:15 PM, an officer reports two parties got into a verbal argument. During the argument one of the suspects pushed the victim several times before threatening the victim. The suspect was placed under Citizen’s Arrest, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

March 5th

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – San Pablo Ave. / Van Fleet Ave.
At 10:17 AM, a police officer located an unoccupied vehicle that was reported stolen to Richmond PD on 02/26/2024.  The vehicle was recovered from the scene and the owner was contacted. 

Embezzlement – 11048 San Pablo Ave. (Harbor Freight Tools):
At 9:55 AM, a reporting party stated that one of their employees stole merchandise from the store.

Attempted Organized Retail Theft – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky): 
At 9:11PM, two suspects entered the business and attempted to steal merchandise. Security was able to retrieve the items back. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Stolen Vehicle – 11700 Block of San Pablo Ave.
At 8:56 PM, the victim reported the theft of their vehicle.

Warrant Arrest – 5700 Block of Lassen St.
At 9:45 PM, a subject was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.  The subject was arrested, cited, and released at the scene.

Battery – 600 Block of Lexington Ave.
At 10:14 PM, officers were dispatched to a disturbance between two parties.  The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

March 6th

Evading Police – Schmidt Ln. / Liberty St.
At 9:43 AM, the city’s License Plate Reader Cameras located a stolen vehicle traveling in El Cerrito.  Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but discontinued pursuing the vehicle as it continued to drive recklessly.

Stolen Vehicle – 10636 San Pablo Ave. (24hour Fitness):
At 2:45 PM, the victim reported their vehicle stolen after the victim’s backpack containing their keys had been stolen from an unlocked locker. An officer later located the unoccupied vehicle in the Safeway parking lot. The vehicle was recovered from the scene and the owner was contacted. 

March 7th

Stolen Vehicle – 6600 block of Blake St.
At 7:45 AM, the victim reported their vehicle was stolen sometime last night.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 10650 San Pablo Ave.
At 11:28 AM, an officer located an unoccupied stolen vehicle that was reported to Oakland PD on 03/04/2024.  The vehicle was recovered, and the registered owner was contacted.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Key Blvd. / Humboldt Ave.
At 3:56 PM, an officer located an unoccupied stolen vehicle that was reported to Richmond PD on 02/28/2024.  The vehicle was recovered, and the owner of the vehicle was contacted.

Sending Harmful Matter to a Minor / Extortion – 1300 Block of Elm St.
At 5:14 PM, the victim contacted police after sending explicit photos over social media.  The suspect attempted to extort the victim for more photos.

Battery – 900 Block of Liberty St.
At 7:21PM, the victim reported being assaulted by a neighbor.

March 8th

Vehicle Theft – 10200 San Pablo Ave (AutoMetrics):
At 2:50 PM, the suspect took a vehicle for a test drive. When the suspect failed to return the car, the dealership called police to report the vehicle stolen.

March 9th

Warrant Arrest - San Pablo Ave. / Wall Ave.
At 12:28 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and discovered the subject had an outstanding warrant. The subject was arrested, issued a citation, and released at the scene.
