On March 19th, 2024, at approximately 10:30 AM, Central Marin Police Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a citizen reporting a suspicious person with a weapon in the area of Industrial Way/Rich Street in Greenbrae. The citizen had seen a man with an axe following another man. While officers responded, several more 9-1-1 callers reported that a man had broken into a building with an axe and attacked someone. Employees from the business bravely pinned the axe wielding man to the ground until Central Marin Police Officers arrived and detained him.  The victim sustained severe facial injuries and was transported to the hospital where he was expected to recover.

Central Marin Police Patrol Officers and Detectives investigated this case collaboratively. Scott Scibilia, age 54 from Petaluma, was arrested for attempted murder, criminal threats, violation of a court order, burglary, and for committing a felony while on bail/release. A Marin County Judge granted an emergency protective order barring any contact between Scibilia and the victim in this case. Scibilia's bail was set at one million dollars. For further information regarding this arrest contact the Central Marin Police Authority at 415-927-5150.
