Crime Blotter for the Week of March 10, 2024 – March 16, 2024

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of March 10, 2024 – March 16, 2024.        
 
March 10, 2024

  • No significant activity.
 
March 11, 2024
  • Burglary (Residential):
1100 Block of Calle Linares. On March 11, 2024 between 6:30 PM and 8:15 PM, suspect(s) unknown pried open the rear sliding glass door and entered the victim’s residence and ransacked the house. The suspect(s) stole miscellaneous jewelry and clothes. The loss was approximately $5,300. No surveillance video is available.
 
  • Burglary (Vehicle):
1801 Flower Street (Salt Box). On March 11, 2024 between 10:30 AM and 4 PM, suspect(s) unknown shattered the front driver side window to a gray 2022 Toyota Corolla and shattered the rear driver side window to a red 2015 Nissan Rogue and ransacked the interiors of both vehicles. The suspect(s) stole a purse that was under the driver seat of the Toyota and unknown items from the Nissan. The loss was approximately $40. No surveillance video is available.
 
  • Grand Theft (Shoplifting):
1470 Mountain Avenue (Best Buy). On March 11, 2024 at 12:37 PM, suspect unknown, a male black adult wearing a blue baseball hat, glasses, a black and white sweater, and blue pants, entered the location on pretense of exchanging a pair of headphones. The suspect left a pair of headphones at the return desk and proceeded to the electronics department where he selected two laptops. The suspect proceeded to the register, where he acted like he was getting the attention of the staff he left his headphones with, then proceeded to run out the exit without attempting to purchase the items and entered a gray Nissan Altima with a license plate of 9BVM532 driven by an unknown person. The loss was approximately $1,400. Surveillance video is available.

March 15, 2024
  • Petty Theft (Shoplifting):
1050 Huntington Drive (Target). On March 15, 2024 at 7:17 PM, the suspects, a female hispanic adult wearing an orange sweater and blue jeans and a female hispanic adult wearing a black long sleeve shirt and black shorts, were observed by loss prevention concealing multiple items of cosmetics on their person. The suspects proceeded to the entrance/exit of the location without attempting to purchase the items. As the suspects exited the location, they were contacted by awaiting deputies where they were arrested for shoplifting. The stolen merchandise was valued at approximately $900 in value. Surveillance video is available.
 
March 16, 2024
  • Petty theft:
1600 Block of Broadland Avenue. Between March 15, 2024 10 PM and March 16, 2024 7:10 AM, suspect(s) unknown entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle a silver 2019 Honda Civic, stole the victim’s wallet from the door console, and miscellaneous items from his glove box. The loss was approximately $600. No surveillance video is available.
 
  • Grand Theft Vehicle:
Evergreen Street and Cino Robles Drive. Between March 15, 2024 11 PM and March 16, 2024 3 AM, suspect(s) unknown stole the victim's parked vehicle, a silver 2004 Lincoln Town Car. No surveillance video is available.
 
CRIME PREVENTION TIPS - VEHICLE SECURITY
  • An unlocked car is an open invitation to a car thief.
  • Lock up when you leave your car, and take the keys with you.
  • Lock the trunk or tailgate.
  • Close all windows — professional thieves have tools that unlock cars through the smallest openings. 
  • When you park the car, remove cellular phones and other valuable possessions. Do not leave anything lying on the seat.
  • Lock all valuables in your trunk or take them with you.
  • Lock your car even if you are making a quick stop at the gas station, convenience store, or mini-mall.
