El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from March 10th – March 16th.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from March 10th to March 16th.

March 10th

Vandalism – 3400 block of Yosemite Ave.
At 12:51 PM, an officer reports four apartment mailboxes were vandalized.

Organized Retail Theft – 5805 Cutting Blvd. (Sketchers):
At 3:56 PM, four suspects entered Sketchers and worked in concert to steal merchandise without paying.

Shoplift - 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens):
At 8:56 PM, officers were dispatched to a theft. Officers located the suspect at the Del Norte BART station. The suspect was positively identified during an infield show-up and placed under Citizen’s Arrest. During a search incident to arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of the stolen merchandise.  The suspect was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

March 11th

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Junction Ave / Conlon Ave.
At 9:01 AM, an officer located an unoccupied stolen vehicle that was parked along the curb.  The vehicle was recovered, and the owner was contacted.

March 12th

Vandalism – 7901 Cutting Blvd. (Berkeley Country Club):
On March 11, between 7:52 PM and 7:58 PM, the suspect attempted to syphon fuel and damaged the security devices on the gas pump handles.

Warrant Arrest – 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway):
At 2:55 PM, a subject was arrested for having a local warrant. The subject was arrested, cited, and released.

March 13th

Theft from Auto – 5500 block of Poinsett Ave.
From March 12, at 3:30 PM to March 13, at 8:30AM, a suspect entered the victims unlocked vehicle and stole miscellaneous items.

Theft from Auto – 2500 block of Nason Ave.
Between 3:30 AM to 6:15 AM, a suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole miscellaneous items.

Stolen Vehicle – 2000 block of Junction Ave.
Between 6:00 AM and 3:00 PM, the victim’s vehicle was stolen. 

Theft from Auto – 5800 block of Poinsett Ave.
Sometime last night to 3:00 PM today, a suspect entered the victims unlocked vehicle and stole miscellaneous items. 

Drug Paraphernalia – 5920 Cutting Blvd.
At 9:06 PM, a subject was found in possession of drug paraphernalia. The subject was arrested, cited, and released on a citation.

Stolen Vehicle – 800 Block of Everett St.
Sometime around 1:30 AM, the victim found their vehicle had been stolen.

March 14th

Shoplifting – 4010 El Cerrito Plaza (AT&T):
At 10:37 AM, a suspect stole a cellphone from the display shelf before fleeing.

March 15th

Auto Burglary – 1200 block of Navellier St.
At 4:30 AM, a suspect shattered a window to the victim’s vehicle and stole items. 

Driving Under the Influence - Potrero Ave. / Eastshore Blvd.
At 1:48 AM, officers responded to the area for a suspicious vehicle. Officers located the vehicle involved in a single vehicle collision. Officers located the driver passed out in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. After a DUI investigation, officers determined the driver was under the influence. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. After booking the suspect was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.

March 16th

Stolen Vehicle – 800 block of Richmond St.
Between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM, the victim’s vehicle was stolen from out of the driveway.  

Warrant Arrest – 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway):
At 1:33 PM, a suspect attempted to steal from the store. The suspect was found to have a warrant for their arrest. The suspect was arrested, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.   

Vandalism – 10057 San Pablo Ave. (Ace Hardware):
At 4:17 PM, a business employee reported that the suspect spray-painted graffiti along the exterior north wall of the business.
