Camarillo Police Presents “Truffles with Traffic”

Nature of Incident: Camarillo Police Presents “Truffles with Traffic”
Location: Tifa Chocolate and Gelato, 620 N. Las Posas Road, Camarillo CA
Date & Time: 04/03/2024 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Unit(s) Responsible: Camarillo Police Department Community Resources Unit
Camarillo Police Department Traffic Bureau
Narrative:
The Camarillo Police Department would like to invite our community to a family friendly afternoon at Tifa Chocolate and Gelato, 620 N. Las Posas Road, on April 3, 2024 for our first ever “Truffles with Traffic.”  This event will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and is intended to bring residents together with members of the Camarillo Police Department Traffic Bureau for a conversation over a “sweet” scoop of gelato or an amazing hand-crafted truffle.

We chose to have this family friendly event on an afternoon during spring break, while most schools are off-session for spring break. We are hopeful to interact with children, new teenage drivers, in addition to adults.  We will have a police car and police motorcycle on display.  Members of the Traffic Bureau will have intoxication goggles on hand, so members of the public can see what drivers who are under the influence may experience when they are driving on our roadways.

Traffic Investigator Senior Deputy Riordan shared from January to March of 2023, there were 17 Driving Under the Influence (DUI) related collisions in the city of Camarillo.  This year, from 1/1/2024 to 3/18/2024, we have already had 26 DUI related collisions in the city of Camarillo.  We are committed to reducing traffic collisions by any means possible and this starts with a conversation.

The Camarillo Police Department is committed to community outreach and we enjoy having conversations with our residents of all ages. Bring your family and friends out to Tifa Chocolate and Gelato for a “sweet” afternoon.

We would like to thank Tifa Chocolate and Gelato for hosting our first ever “Truffles with Traffic” event.  We hope to see all of you there!
