Full Notification

The public is hereby notified that on March 28, 2024, a house will be moved within the Cape Charles historic district, from the 600 block of Mason Ave to the 600 block of Washington Ave.  The route will take the house west on Mason Ave to Bay Ave; then north on Bay Ave to Washington Ave; then east to the 600 block of Washington Ave.
 
The move will begin at approximately 7:00 am.  Total time to complete the move may be up to 5 hours, with most of that time spent at the departure and destination parcels.  Portions of Mason, Bay, and Washington Aves will be closed, and overhead wires will be taken down, as the house progresses along this route.  The house should be clear of Mason Ave by 10:00 am. 
 
There will be no parking along the south side of Mason Ave from 7:00 to 10:00 am.  There will be brief periods when overhead utilities (electric, phone, internet, cable) will be down as the house passes by.  Two utility crews will be working; one taking lines down in front of the house, and another putting the lines back up as the house passes.  Outages along the route may be up to an hour.  Outages in the area of the departure and destination parcels may be longer.
