Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of March 11-17, 2024

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There were three robberies during the past week.

On Thursday, 03-14-24, at approximately 8:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Gellert Boulevard on a report of a robbery. The victim stated that he and his wife had gone to the Bank of America ATM, withdrew $1,000, and returned to their vehicle in the parking lot. The victim realized he needed to withdraw more cash and returned to the ATM with his wife. As the victim inserted his card into the ATM, a suspect approached from behind and said in Spanish, “Give me the money, give me the money, give me the money.” The victim positioned himself between his wife and the suspect and handed over the $1,000. The suspect then punched the victim in the left ear and fled westbound. The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’5” tall, wearing a black sweater and a white face covering. This investigation is continuing.

On Friday, 03-15-24, at approximately 11:22 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Sun Valley Dairy Market on the 600 block of Schwerin Street on a report of a robbery. The victim stated that he had made a purchase at the Sun Valley Dairy Market and exited the store. Upon exiting, a suspect asked if he had any money. The victim responded that he had no money. Subsequently, the suspect punched him on the left side of his face, causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect then took his wallet containing $280, bank cards, membership cards, and a driver’s license. The suspect fled in a white Ford Transit U-Haul van driven by another suspect. The suspect who punched the victim was described as a heavyset White male, weighing 300 pounds, 6’3” tall, and wearing a black ski mask. The driver of the suspect vehicle was described as an average-built White male, 35 to 40 years old, 5’10” tall, with brown slicked-back hair, and wearing a gray neck gaiter, a black jean jacket, blue jeans, and dark-colored shoes.

On Sunday, 03-17-24, at approximately 8:20 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Hillside Boulevard and Brunswick Street on a report of a robbery. The victim said that he was walking on the 1300 block of Brunswick Street when two suspects approached him from behind. The first suspect was holding a large stick, and the second suspect was holding a knife, pointing it toward his abdomen. The first suspect struck the victim 4-5 times on the right side of his head, causing him to fall to the ground. The suspects took the victim’s iPhone 12, worth approximately $300, along with a black wallet containing $70, a bank card, a medical card, and other miscellaneous cards. The victim described both suspects as Black males, approximately 30 years old, wearing black sweaters and black baseball caps. This investigation is continuing.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
