Full Notification

Earlier today, March 23, 2024, the Sheriff’s Office communications center received a 911 call from a home on Penny Creek Drive, Sun City, from a man reporting that he and his wife had killed themselves.

Deputies that responded to the home found a 77-year-old woman who was deceased.  Her husband, 77-year-old John K. Rounds, was suffering from several minor lacerations. 

Through the investigation, it was discovered that Mr. Rounds had suffocated his wife before unsuccessfully attempting to end his own life.

Mr. Rounds was treated at the scene by Beaufort County EMS and later transported to Coastal Carolina Hospital by deputies.

Upon his release from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with Murder.  He is incarcerated at the  Beaufort County Detention Center where he awaits bond.
