Advisory

Avoid low-lying areas with flooding in Hoboken; rainwater may remain on streets into the evening hours; Do not move barricades

A flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) for the City of Hoboken until 8 a.m. tomorrow, and a wind advisory is in effect until 2 a.m. tomorrow.

Approximately 4 inches of rain fell in Hoboken today. Throughout the course of the storm, the City's flood pumps and resiliency parks have removed millions of gallons of water that otherwise would have impacted the severity of flooding. The pumps are most effective during low tide, and the current tide is rising with high tide at approximately 8:34 pm tonight. Flood waters may remain in low-lying areas on city streets for the next several hours.

Avoid Flood Prone Areas and Do NOT move barricades

Areas of Hoboken have experienced various levels of flooding. Drivers should avoid travel, especially in areas experiencing flooding, which has also led to various road closures. Please do not drive or walk through floodwaters.

Barricades have been deployed near flood-prone intersections and the City’s Flood Warning System has been activated. Do not attempt to drive around gates when they are lowered. Do not move or go around barricades.

Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.

Discounted garage parking ends at 9 a.m. tomorrow

The City is offering a special rate of $5 per 24-hour period in Garages B (28 Second St.), D (215 Hudson St.), and Midtown (371 Fourth St.) to residents with a valid Resident On-Street Parking Permit or Temporary Parking Permit. This rate will be available through 9 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, March 24.

Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Residents are reminded to move their cars out of the garage by 9 a.m. tomorrow, as regular rates will go back into effect at that time.

High winds possible

A wind advisory is in effect through 2 a.m. tomorrow, with winds of 25 to 35 mph forecasted, and gusts of up to 50 mph possible.

Residents are asked to secure loose objects outside or bring them inside, especially from balconies.

Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines, resulting in power outages. Please report power outages and downed wires to PSEG at https://nj.myaccount.pseg.com/myservicepublic/outagepublic
