Winter Storm Warning until 03:00AM Tuesday

...HEAVY SNOW AND WINTER STORM IMPACTS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT... .Winter weather conditions are impacting travel across much of northeastern New Mexico and the northern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Another round of snow is expected tonight in the mountains which will add to snowfall accumulations already and make for hazardous travel conditions. Farther east US Highway 87/64 remains closed between Raton and Clayton due to snow packed driving conditions and gusty winds blowing snow. These conditions should begin to ease this evening.

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations up to 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Upper Rio Grande Valley, and Johnson and Bartlett Mesas Including Raton Pass.

* WHEN...Until 3 AM MDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Tire traction will be reduced. Extend the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. This includes along portions of I-25. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday evening commute.

* AFFECTED AREAS: NORTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS ... SOUTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS ... EAST SLOPES SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS ... UPPER RIO GRANDE VALLEY ... JOHNSON AND BARTLETT MESAS INCLUDING RATON PASS
