On June 29, 2023, a deadly shooting occurred at Lovejoy Park located on McDonough Rd. where the victim sustained gunshot wounds to his neck, head, and arm, and ultimately succumbed to his injuries. 

The outstanding Detectives of the Lovejoy Police Department led by Chief Rick Webster worked day and night in identifying Oliver Choyce as one of the 3 murder suspects.

On July 25, 2023, the following warrants were obtained for Oliver Choyce:

-Felony Murder
-Aggravated Assault
-Possession of Firearm or Knife during Commission of or attempt of crime
-Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon 

SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN activated “The Elite Fugitive Squad” to apprehend Choyce and bring him to justice. Fugitive investigators worked days, nights, weekends, and holidays obtaining information and tracking Choyce.

Choyce was the last of the 3 suspects involved in the murder on the run.

On January 31, 2024, Sheriff Levon Allen sent a strong and direct message to Choice to turn himself in.

On March 25, 2024, based on the pressure applied by The Lovejoy Police Department, Clayton County Police Department and Clayton County Fugitive Squad for almost a year’s time, Oliver Choyce surrendered to Fugitive investigators without incident. 

Oliver Choyce is now in Custody at Martha Glaze Juvenile Facility.

SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN personally called the mother of the victim to rest a little easier knowing all 3 suspects are now in custody.
