The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, MARCH 18, 2024:
5:04 AM Officer Medina was dispatched to the area of Joaquin Murieta Avenue and Cedar Boulevard regarding a vehicle burglary. Entry was through the passenger window. Loss included personal items, sporting equipment, documents, and tools.
12:31 PM Officer Townsend investigated a vehicle theft on the 8400 block of Central Avenue.
5:52 PM Officer Soto investigated a vehicle theft on the 6400 block of Potrero Drive.
8:33 PM Officer Soto was dispatched to the 6000 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue concerning a burglary. A 40-year-old male from Oakland was arrested for violation of a court order.
TUESDAY, MARCH 19, 2024:
7:13 AM Officer Orozco was dispatched to a suspicious person in the area of Wells Avenue and Ash Street. A 24-year-old male from Fremont was arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail for mail theft.
3:19 PM Sergeant Mapes located and recovered a stolen vehicle at the area of Breton Drive and Breton Place.
4:58 PM Officers were dispatched to a shooting on the 39800 block of Cedar Boulevard. The investigation is currently ongoing. Refer to Press Release for details: 031924 Press Release.pdf
7:03 PM Officer Norvell investigated a vehicle theft on the 7300 block of Gateway Boulevard.
7:19 PM Officer Kapu investigated a vehicle theft on the 8400 block of Central Avenue.
7:55 PM Officer C. Torres responded to the 6300 block of Dairy Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary. A 28-year-old male from East Palo Alto was arrested for public intoxication and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20, 2024:
6:59 AM Officer Kim investigated multiple vehicle burglaries on the 6100 block of Newpark Mall Road. Point of entry was determined from lock prying. Loss included tools.
THURSDAY, MARCH 21, 2024:
5:41 AM Officer McCuin investigated a vehicle theft that occurred on the 39900 block of Potrero Drive.
1:42 PM Officer Lara investigated a vehicle burglary at the 39700 block of Balentine Drive. Entry determined by lock prying. Reported loss involved tools.
FRIDAY, MARCH 22, 2024:
5:22 AM Officer Kapu investigated a vehicle theft occurring on the 35000 block of Windermere Drive.
5:40 AM Officer Cervantes investigated a vehicle burglary occurring at the 35000 block of Cornwall Place, reported loss were tools.
10:17 AM Officer Lara investigated a vehicle theft occurring on the 35400 block of Newark Boulevard.
10:37 AM Officer Frentescu was dispatched to the 6400 block of Market Avenue concerning a vandalism incident. A 39-year-old male from Newark was arrested for driving under influence and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
12:27 PM Officer Lara located and recovered a stolen vehicle in the area of Enterprise and Aleppo Drives.
1:34 PM Officer Orozco was dispatched to the 5500 block of Thornton Avenue on the report of an assault. A 32-year-old male from Newark was arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail for threats, public intoxication and battery.
2:15 PM Officers recovered a stolen vehicle near Mandarin Avenue and Enterprise Drive.
SATURDAY, MARCH 23, 2024:
7:03 AM Officers investigated the reports of multiple vehicle burglaries occurring in the general area of Buena Vista Drive and Cherry Street. Entry was determined from window smashing and loss included various personal items.
9:44 AM Officer Frentescu investigated a vehicle theft occurring on the 35000 block of Bettencourt Street.
4:18 PM Officer Williams conducted a traffic stop. A 22-year-old male from Newark was discovered with multiple warrants and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
8:53 PM Officer C. Torres responded to the 300 block of Newpark Mall Road on the call of a disturbance. A 29-year-old female from Newark was arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail for public intoxication, battery, outstanding warrants, and obstructing arrest.
9:02 PM Officer Stevenson was dispatched to the 36100 block of La Salle Drive for a disturbance. A 58-year old male from Newark was arrested for corporal injury, outstanding warrants and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
SUNDAY, MARCH 24, 2024:
12:00 AM Officer Swadener conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving without its lights on. A 21-year-old male from Newark was cited and released for driving with a suspended license.
1:39 AM Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle theft occurring on the 36700 block of Darvon Street.
11:22 PM Officer Medina investigated a vehicle burglary on the 39900 block of Balentine Drive.
