On March 26, 2024, at approximately 1:05 PM, the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the area of West Los Angeles Ave. and Quimisa Dr. reference a vehicle vs. bicyclist traffic collision.  Upon arrival of first responders, life saving measures were performed.  However, the bicyclist unfortunately sustained injuries that proved to be fatal and pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to the initial information and the preliminary investigation, it appears the bicyclist was traveling southbound on Quimisa Dr. when the rider failed to stop for the posted stop sign and attempted to make a left turn onto West Los Angeles Avenue. A vehicle traveling westbound on West Los Angeles Avenue struck the bicyclist.

There was no indications of impairment by the driver of the vehicle and the driver did not sustain any injuries.  The roadway was closed for several hours to conduct the investigation.  The bicyclists was later identified as Michael Sorensen, 55 year old male resident of Simi Valley.
