On March 27, 2024, at 1:14 a.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a report of a single vehicle accident on State Road 57 approximately a half mile south of County Road 350 South. Upon arriving at the scene Deputy Wyatt Hunt observed a Silver 2001 Honda Civic had left the roadway and traveled approximately 50 feet into an adjacent field.  Upon speaking to the driver 19 year old Landen Mason of Oakland City Deputy Hunt detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage.  At that point Deputy Hunt began a roadside DUI investigation.  During the investigation Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia were recovered. Once the investigation was concluded Deputy Hunt placed Mr. Mason into custody and transported him to the Gibson County Jail.  Upon arriving at the Jail Mr. Mason was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated With a Prior Conviction, Minor Consumption, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
 
Assisting Deputy Hunt in his investigation was Deputy Quinten Might and Oakland City Police Officer Michael McGregor.
 
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
