Police Seek Help Locating Man Wanted for Questioning in Robbery Investigation

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help locating Derrick Efford, 28, who is wanted for questioning in connection with the investigation of a robbery that occurred on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
 
At approximately 5:30 a.m., a man was approached by two Hispanic males who pointed a handgun at him and demanded that he stop walking. The suspects took the victim’s wallet, containing $500.00 in cash, a debit card, and other personal property. The suspects took the victim’s cell phone and smashed it on the ground before fleeing on Polk Street towards Ferry Street. The two suspects then entered a red 4-door vehicle parked in the 200 block of Ferry Street and drove westbound towards Newark Penn Station.
 
Detectives investigating this incident are seeking Derrick Efford for questioning.
 
Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the whereabouts of Efford to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
