PRESS RELEASE: Suspect arrested for pimpingĀ
SUBJECT: Suspect arrested for pimping
LOCATION: Oakland, California
DATE/TIME: March 26th 2024
Media Information:
The Redwood City Police Department’s Street Crimes Suppression Team (SCST) conducted a long term investigation into allegations of human trafficking. In December of 2023 SCST Detectives came in contact with a victim of human trafficking at hotel in Redwood City. The investigation identified the victim’s trafficker. SCST Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Oakland resident Marqus Alexander Coleman (33).
On March 27th Coleman was arrested by probation officers from Alameda County. SCST Detectives searched Coleman’s residence in Oakland and seized evidence related to the crime.
Coleman was booked into the Santa Rita jail for violation of pimping and pandering, both felony human trafficking charges. The Redwood City Police Department has a zero tolerance approach towards those who choose to victimize and traffic other people. This case is just one of many where we have gone to great lengths to hold these criminals accountable.
