Police Seek Help Identifying Terroristic Threat Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with a terroristic threat that occurred on Friday, March 22, 2024.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., the suspect riding on the No. 31 NJ Transit bus at South Orange Avenue near Longfellow Avenue, became irate with the driver, threatened the driver, and threw a food item at him. The suspect then brandished a large kitchen knife and lunged at the driver multiple times. Upon being warned by the driver that the Police were being called, the suspect exited the bus and headed north on Longfellow Avenue.

Detectives investigating this incident are seeking the public’s help to quickly identify the suspect. He is described as approximately 5’6” tall with a light complexion and no facial hair. He was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, a beige bubble jacket, and black pants, and was carrying a black and gray book bag.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information regarding the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
