Police Seek Help Identifying Luring Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with a luring incident that occurred on Friday, March 8, 2024.

At approximately 9:06 a.m., a juvenile female student, walking towards Weequahic High School in the 200 block of Chancellor Avenue, was followed from Osborne Terrace and Nye Avenue by the suspect, who propositioned her to have sex with him behind the school for money. The suspect also took photographs of the victim and asked if he could kiss her hands and feet.

Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s assistance in quickly identifying the suspect.  He is described as a Black male in his late thirties or forties, approximately 5’11” tall, with a black beard and a short haircut. He used a blue iPhone 13 to take photos of the victim.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
