The Campbell Police Department Set to Implement First Real Time Information Center in Santa Clara County

The Campbell Police Department continues to pioneer technological advancements and will be the first Santa Clara County law enforcement agency to implement a Real Time Information Center (RTIC).

An RTIC enables the Campbell Police Department to optimize the utilization of existing technologies and elevate public safety. Through collaboration with Fusus, an integrated digital platform, an online portal has been developed to enhance the camera registry and situational awareness capabilities.

This portal allows community members to share the locations of their privately owned security cameras with the Campbell Police, creating a valuable resource list. Officers can utilize this list to request footage from identified cameras during criminal investigation and emergencies, eliminating the need for door-to-door canvassing.

Camera registration does not grant live video access to the Campbell Police Department; rather, it provides officers with camera locations and owner contact details, expediting evidence collection in event of an incident. All registrant information and submitted data files are kept confidential and will only be accessed during criminal investigations or emergency incidents.

In addition to the camera registry, local businesses can purchase supplemental devices that enable the sharing of live video feeds to the department in emergencies, enhancing both employee safety and police response. To safeguard privacy, the sharing of live video is at the camera owner's discretion.

“One of the cornerstones of our success is the unwavering collaboration between the Campbell Police Department and our community,” said Police Chief Gary Berg. “This advancement allows us to foster that collaboration while enhancing situational awareness, optimizing resource allocation, and ultimately, ensuring a safer community.

Residents and businesses can find more information and register their cameras with the Campbell Police Department by visiting campbellca.gov/cameraconnect.
