Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé reports that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Eric Mendoza, 53, also known as Leroy Holmes, in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
At approximately 6 a.m., Police responded to Broad Street and Murray Street on a call of a man being struck with a baseball bat and stick by two male suspects. Detectives investigating this incident have identified Mendoza as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of aggravated assault, conspiracy, and theft. He is described as 5’11” tall and 165 pounds. He has a medium brown complexion and a bald head.
