El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from March 17th – March 23rd.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from March 17th to March 23rd
 
March 17th

Stolen Vehicle – 2200 block of Key Blvd.
The victim reported their vehicle was stolen from their driveway between 10 AM -12 PM.

March 18th

Nothing to report.

March 19th

Stolen Vehicle – 2300 block of Mono Ave.
The victim reported their vehicle was stolen sometime between March 18th and March 19th.

False Identification / Warrant Arrest – 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway):
At 12:45 PM, officers detained a suspect who was caught shoplifting. The suspect gave officers several different names and dates of birth.  After obtaining the suspect’s true identity, officers learned the suspect had seven warrants for their arrest.  The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

March 20th

Commercial Burglary – 1700 block of Eastshore Blvd.
A suspect broke into the construction site and stole items sometime between 7:40 PM on March 19th - 6 AM on March 20th.   

Theft of License plates – 6120 Potrero Ave. (Los Moles):
At 10:32 AM, the victim’s rear license plate was stolen off their vehicle. 

Stolen Vehicle – 700 block of Elm St.
At 10:48 AM, the victim reported that their vehicle was stolen.

Petty Theft – 1300 block of Rifle Range:
From March 17th - March 18th, a suspect stole reflectors along the victims fence.

Vandalism – 5600 block of San Diego St.
Between 1:00 PM - 1:28 PM, the victim’s rear windshield was damaged.

March 21st

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Fairmount Ave. / Lexington Ave.
At 3:48 PM, officers located an occupied stolen vehicle that was reported stolen to Oakland PD. Officers contacted the driver of the vehicle and found the driver to be the legal owner of the vehicle. The driver told officers they had forgotten to contact Oakland PD after they found their vehicle.

Organized Retail Theft – 10794 San Pablo Ave. (Marshalls):
At 5:14 PM, officers arrested one adult and two teenage juveniles for stealing merchandise.  The suspects were arrested, cited, and released at the scene.

Organized Retail Theft – 11545 San Pablo Ave. (Ross):
At 8:08 PM, two suspects entered the business and stole merchandise. Both suspects fled the store prior to police arrival.

March 22nd

Battery – 11344 San Pablo Ave. (Denny’s):
At 6:59 AM, the victim was beaten by two suspects after intervening in a dispute between them and an employee. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.

Organized Retail Theft – 11555 San Pablo Ave. (DD’s Discounts):
At 3:56 PM, the store called to report a theft that occurred the previous day.  Four suspects worked in concert to steal merchandise.

March 23rd

Shoplift - 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens):
At 9:26 PM, an officer reports a suspect left the store with unpaid merchandise.

Robbery / Warrant Arrest - 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway):
At 10:59 PM, an officer reports the suspect was asked to leave the business by security guards. In the process, the suspect attempted to leave the store with merchandise while throwing a chair and pushing a security guard. Officers located the suspect and detained them. During a records check, officers discovered the suspect had an outstanding warrant out of San Francisco County. After the suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, the suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Discharge of a Firearm - 1800 Block of Elm St.
At 11:11 PM, a resident reports a suspect fired a gun into the air.

Evading - S.56th Ave. / Potrero Ave.
At 3:43 AM, officers received a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle. An officer located the vehicle and attempted to conduct an enforcement stop. The suspect instead sped away and committed several vehicle code violations. Officers terminated their attempts to stop the vehicle due to safety concerns.
