#LASD Temple Station responded to two separate incidents of swatting in #Duarte
Temple Station responded to two separate incidents of swatting in the city of Duarte. The first incident occurred on Sunday, March 24, 2024, followed by the second incident on Thursday, March 28, 2024. In both incidents, an unidentified caller falsely reported a person was shot at a residence, prompting a significant response from Temple Station personnel. During the investigation, it was determined that no crime had occurred.
In addition, a similar swatting incident took place at Industry Sheriff’s Station on Sunday, March 24, 2024, where it was reported a person had been shot in the unincorporated area of Bassett, resulting in a significant response from Industry Station personnel.
“These dangerous, false emergency calls drain critical law enforcement resources and can put innocent lives in harm’s way,” said Temple Sheriff’s Captain Jorge Meza.
These incidents are actively being investigated. It is important for the public to be aware that any person(s) responsible for the swatting calls can face criminal charges and civil liabilities for the unnecessary deployment of law enforcement personnel.
