Village Wide Hydrant Flushing Starts TODAY!
Please be advised that the Village of Briarcliff Manor will commence its annual Hydrant Flushing program on Monday, April 1st. This essential maintenance operation is crucial for ensuring the proper functioning of all the Village's fire hydrants and for flushing out the water mains to maintain the highest quality water supply for our residents throughout the year. Here are some important details regarding the Hydrant Flushing schedule and its potential impact on residents: Start Date: Hydrant Flushing will begin on Monday, April 1st. Please note that the Hydrant Flushing program will commence on Monday, April 1st and will continue for the following six (6) weeks. This extended duration is necessary to ensure thorough flushing of the entire Village distribution system. Flushing Schedule: The Water Department will start by flushing all Main Lines throughout the Village on the first night. Subsequently, they will proceed with WEEK 1 routes as outlined in the attached map. Please note that if there is an overlapping area, your street may be completed on the first or second highlighted week. The duration of the flushing process is contingent on staffing and emergency workload. MAINS & WEEK 1 – April 1-5 WEEK 2 – April 8-12 WEEK 3 – April 15-19 WEEK 4 – April 23-26 WEEK 5 – April 29-May 3 WEEK 6 – May 6-10 Discolored Water: Residents should anticipate discolored water at any time, particularly during the day from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. It is advisable to adjust activities such as laundry routines, avoiding these time periods if possible. However, please be reassured that ongoing laboratory testing has consistently indicated that despite discoloration, the water has contained no harmful bacteria. Duration: Flushing will continue section by section for several weeks until the entire Village distribution system is thoroughly flushed. Please be advised that residents in the surrounding flushing areas may also experience discolored water during the flushing process. While our primary focus is on the targeted areas, adjacent neighborhoods may be temporarily affected as well. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to complete this essential maintenance task. If you have any concerns or notice prolonged discoloration, please do not hesitate to contact the Department of Public Works for assistance.
