Three juveniles injured in two separate shooting incidents this weekend.
On Sunday, March 31, 2024, Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to two separate incidents involving juveniles suffering from gunshot wounds.
At around 6:30 p.m., deputies were called to Coastal Carolina Medical Center for the report of a 16-year-old male juvenile who came in suffering from a gunshot wound.
The juvenile, who is a resident of Beaufort County, was taken to the hospital by his parents. He was complaining about not feeling well, but later told his parents he had been shot. Information provided by the juvenile to deputies was limited regarding the incident, but it is believed his wound was a few days old.
The victim was transported to a Savannah area hospital for further treatment.
Later Sunday night around 11:20 p.m., deputies responded to Coligny Beach for a juvenile victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
Deputies met with a 17-year-old male who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his hand. Deputies were advised that there was a party on the beach involving dozens of teenagers. An unknown male was seen with a gun during the gathering. The shooting occurred a short time later. The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Later, an 18-year-old showed up at the hospital to check on his friend. He told deputies that he had also suffered a superficial gunshot wound to his hip area while at the party, but he refused medical attention.
The two incidents are not connected and are both under investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information related to these two investigations to contact Investigator Ray at 843-255-3423, or if wishing to remain anonymous and for a possible reward, Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111.
