INCIDENT: P.C. 459 Commercial Burglary
LOCATION: Marlene’s Jewelry at 34569 Yucaipa Boulevard, Yucaipa
SUSPECT: Justin Flood, 38-years-old, resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY: On Saturday, March 30, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., a burglary alarm was activated at Marlene’s Jewelry Store in the city of Yucaipa. Deputies found a door to a utility room at the rear of the building had been pried open. Inside the utility room, a large hole in an interior wall had been cut to gain access to the business. Video surveillance showed an adult male, wearing shorts and an Under Armor sweatshirt, pulling a wagon on the side of the business. The same person was also seen attempting to cut the front door lock with a reciprocating saw.
During the investigation, deputies observed an adult male peering around the corner from a restaurant across the street. The subject rode off on a bicycle towards another business and was detained by deputies. Flood was wearing shorts and an Under Armor sweatshirt, and was covered in drywall debris and insulation, consistent with the hole inside the store’s utility room. During a search of the area, deputies located a red canvas wagon containing various power tools, pry bars, and a reciprocating saw. An independent witness saw Flood pulling the same wagon earlier in the evening.
Flood was arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center for commercial burglary.
