The male victim, 55, advised the armed suspect approached and demanded the victim’s vehicle. The suspect took the vehicle and fled the area. Officers patrolling the area located the vehicle and arrested the suspect without incident. They found a loaded handgun in the vehicle. ARRESTED: Dejon Whitfield, 34, for carjacking and weapon-related charges.
4. Weapon Arrest (0538) 2600 Block of East Marsh Street, Park District
Officers responded to a report of a subject walking in the area with a firearm after an argument with family. Responding officers located the suspect, who fled when he saw the officers. Officers took him into custody after a brief foot chase and recovered an illegal shotgun. ARRESTED: Jose Castillo, 35, for battery and weapon violations.
