Suspect Taken into Custody When He Attempts a Home Invasion Robbery in Rialto

PC 664/212.5 – Attempted Home Invasion Robbery
LOCATION: 17100 Block of Gray Pine Place, Rialto
SUSPECT(S): Christopher Ochoa, 35-years-old, Resident of Rialto
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY:
On Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 12:04 a.m., deputies from the Fontana Station responded to a residence in the 17100 block of Gray Pine Place, for the report of a man with a gun. When deputies arrived, they located the suspect, Christopher Ochoa, knocking on the front door of the residence, armed with a gun and an axe. Deputies gave Ochoa numerous commands to drop the weapons. Ochoa did not comply with commands, raised the axe at the deputy in a threatening manner, and a lethal force encounter occurred. Ochoa was not struck by gunfire. Ochoa was taken into custody and was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded and assumed the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
Ochoa was medically cleared for booking and was transported to the West Valley Detention Center. He was booked for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and attempted home invasion robbery. He was also booked on a traffic warrant and remains in custody on a combined bail of $125,000.
