SMPD is recruiting volunteer Block Captains for our Neighborhood Watch Program 
This year, we are looking to increase the amount of Neighborhood Watch blocks in our city. The quickest way to do that is by recruiting volunteers from our neighborhoods to act as Block Captains. What's a Block Captain? Well, we're glad you asked.
To find out, join us on Monday, April 29th at 6:30pm, when we'll be hosting a Block Captain recruiting event at the PD. Those who have an interest in helping keep their neighborhoods safe should join us. At the meeting, we'll go over what exactly our Neighborhood Watch program is and the roles and responsibilities of a Block Captain. Essentially, a Block Captain is just the liaison between the neighborhood and the police department.
