On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 3:05 pm, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Dana Street for a disturbance inside a residence. A neighbor reported a female subject inside a residence running around and breaking items. Soon thereafter, an additional call was received reporting the woman was now mobile walking from a residence toward Petaluma High School. The woman was described as being unclothed and covered in blood.
 
As police units were responding to the scene, the woman walked onto the school campus where she entered the school gymnasium. Unfortunately, the gymnasium was occupied by students. Staff at the school acted swiftly evacuating the gymnasium of students and providing clear directions to incoming first responders.
 
Officers ultimately encountered the woman who was suffering from several lacerations to her body including a serious laceration to her arm. Officers believed the woman was suffering from a mental health crisis in addition to needing immediate medical intervention. Recognizing the severity of the situation, officers applied a tourniquet to her arm to stop the bleeding. Paramedics arrived shortly thereafter providing additional assistance and transporting her to a local hospital.
 
Based on the observation of officers on scene and the information provided by the public, her actions appeared intentional and consistent with someone who may have been trying to injure themselves. There were no obvious signs of foul play, and as it appears, the woman sustained the injury from exiting a window at the residence. We have no reason to believe the woman was in possession of any weapons. The woman’s injuries were determined to be non-life threatening and luckily, no other community members or students were injured. The woman’s identity is being withheld due to medical confidentiality.

We would like to thank the neighbors in the area who notified us of the activity in their neighborhood.
