Hoboken is under a NWS high wind warning, flood watch, and coastal flood advisory.
The City of Hoboken is under a National Weather Service (NWS) high wind warning from 11 a.m. today, April 3, through 6 a.m. tomorrow with winds of 25 to 35 mph, and gusts of 60 mph expected. A flood watch is also in effect from 4 p.m. today through late tonight and a coastal flood advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. today to 7 a.m. tomorrow. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible especially in low lying areas. The next high tide in Hoboken is expected to be at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Stormwater detention tanks at the City's resiliency parks have been filling normally since yesterday, currently storing more than 550,000 gallons of water. The NHSA wet weather pumps have also been running since yesterday and are able to pump up to 90 million gallons of water per day.
High winds possible
Damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines, resulting in power outages. Residents are asked to secure loose objects outside or bring them inside, especially from balconies. Travel could be difficult especially for high profile vehicles.
Please report power outages and downed wires to PSEG at https://nj.myaccount.pseg.com/myservicepublic/outagepublic.
Avoid flood-prone areas
The Office of Emergency Management reminds residents to avoid flood-prone areas. Intense rainfall of greater than 0.8 inch per hour could result in flooding in low-lying areas. Do not walk through floodwaters or drive around barricades or through flooded areas.
Barricades will also be deployed at flood-prone areas. Do not drive around barricades.
NHSA has been out clearing catch basins. Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.
