Wilmington Police have arrested two male juveniles on gun charges.
On March 31, at approximately 12:16 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division and Canine Unit responded to the 200 block of West 11th Street, in reference to a person with a gun. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with two male subjects who fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, a 17-year-old male juvenile, and a 16-year-old male juvenile were taken into custody without incident in the 300 block of Delaware Avenue, and police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.
The 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited
- Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and was committed to the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center on $21,000 cash-only bail.
The 16-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited
- Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and was committed to the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center on $21,000 cash-only bail.
