Advisory

Scam Alert:Police and judicial entities will NOT call and ask for bonds to be paid using Bitcoin. These calls are false. Do not provide $

Within the last 24 hours, we've had upwards of 50 residents call our front desk, advising they received phone calls from the "Midland Police Department" and "Midland County Sheriff's Office," advising they need to pay fines for failing to appear for jury duty. These phone calls pop up on caller ID as MPD and MCSO.
The people calling are using actual names of staff members at the Midland County Courthouse, making their story even more believable. They are requesting several thousands of dollars to be deposited in Bitcoin ATM machines at various locations within the city as their bond to remove the warrants they have.
Please note that no law enforcement or judicial entity will ask for bonds to be paid through Bitcoin and these types of phone calls are scams.
