Wilmington Police arrest man in connection with March 19 shooting incident:

Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident following an investigation.

On March 19, at approximately 11:57 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 700 block of East 22nd Street, in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition. The case was assigned to Detective Michael Hayman of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Through the course of his investigation, Detective Hayman identified 23-year-old Paul Murray as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. Subsequently, police executed a search warrant in the 1500 block of East 28th Street, and took Murray into custody without incident.

Murray has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Assault (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – Eight Counts
  • Reckless Endangering (First Degree) – Seven Counts
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
  • Criminal Mischief Under $1,000
He was arraigned in New Castle County Superior Court and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $584,000 cash-only bail.

This incident remains under investigation and further details will be released when possible.
