Narrative:
On April 2nd, 2024, two suspects were arrested for their involvement in organized residential burglaries which occurred in the City of Thousand Oaks and nearby communities.  An additional suspect was arrested for driving a vehicle displaying a fraudulent license plate.

On January 11th, 2024, a residential burglary occurred in the City of Thousand Oaks.  Through investigative resources, detectives identified several suspects and their associated vehicles.  Detectives also learned this organized burglary crew was responsible for an additional residential burglary in Ventura County, as well as burglaries outside of Ventura County.

On April 2nd, 2024, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office detectives received information that the suspects were travelling in two vehicles in a residential area in the neighboring city of Calabasas.  Believing their activity was consistent with “casing”, detectives stopped both vehicles and detained the occupants.  As a result of this detention, detectives arrested Sandra Lorena Ramos Becerra and Luis Leonardo Rivera Alarcon on charges of residential burglary.  Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies also responded and arrested Jeisson Dario Castellanos Hernandez, for operating a vehicle displaying a fraudulent license plate.

Sandra Lorena Ramos Becerra was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility with bail set at $50,000.  Luis Leonardo Rivera Alarcon was turned over to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and was booked on residential burglary charges in San Bernardino County, with additional charges pending in Ventura County.  Jeisson Dario Castellanos Hernandez was booked at the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station in Los Angeles County.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to safeguarding our local communities and works closely with our neighboring agencies in doing so.  As a reminder, residential burglars tend to target unoccupied residences that back to open spaces such as hiking trails and golf courses.  The Sheriff’s Office offers the following suggestions to help safeguard our communities from being targeted:

  • Leave indoor lights and/or televisions on during the evening hours to give the appearance the house is occupied.
  • Close and lock all windows and doors when leaving the house.
  • Activate alarm systems when leaving the house.  Even if you only plan on being away for a brief period.
  • Alarm systems should consist of door sensors, window sensors and glass break sensors for all windows and doors on the first and second stories of the house.
  • Safes have been specifically targeted during these burglaries.  Consider storing valuables in safe deposit boxes or other secure locations.
  • Report any suspicious vehicles or individuals immediately by calling Sheriff’s Dispatch at (805) 654-9511.  Pay particular attention to vehicles that drive slowly up and down residential streets, vehicles parked on a street with the engine on and headlights off, and vehicles parked adjacent to hiking trails or golf course access points during hours that are not consistent with hiking or golfing.
