The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch, Hazardous Weather Outlook, and Wind Advisory for our area, currently in effect through early Thursday. The forecast anticipates an additional 1-2 inches of rain, with rainfall rates during the heaviest times anticipated to be between .25" and .5" inches per hour, and localized heavier amounts are possible. In addition, winds of 20-30 mph are expected, with gusts up to 55 mph.

The Department of Public Works continues to monitor known problem areas and has been clearing stormwater drains throughout the day. Residents are advised that this amount of rainfall in a brief period of time may result in temporarily overcharged storm drains. This is not unusual for significant rainfall, and typically the excess water dissipates after a short time. The Westfield Police and Fire Departments will also be monitoring road conditions, and will advise the community if any detours become necessary. 
 
PSE&G advises preparations such as charging mobile devices, keeping a flashlight and batteries handy, and testing any available hot spots. These tools are available to report an outage and receive status updates on power restoration:
